Clinical Study of Postoperative Bleeding after Tonsillectomy in 497 Cases

Abstract We conducted a retrospective analysis of 497 patients who underwent tonsillectomy at Kamio Memorial Hospital from September 2015 to August 2018. A total 35 cases (7.0%) developed postoperative bleeding and three (0.6%) needed second operation under general anesthesia stop the bleeding. Postoperative most frequently occurred between 24 hours 6 days after operation. The incidence was significantly higher in males aged 20 39 years old. time, body mass index, smoking habit, history hypertension were not identified as clinical risk factors for this study.
